Our Story

In the summer of 2017, Andrew, his brother, and sister-in-law embarked on a journey from Reno, NV to Ketchikan, AK to work for Alaska Coach Tours. A few months later, Jenny, coming from Davis, CA, also found herself in Ketchikan, seeking adventure rather than romance. Andrew and Jenny were both there for a seasonal bus driving gig, not expecting their paths to intersect in any significant way. In fact, Andrew’s plan was to make no friends and just concentrate on working… but obviously fate and Jenny had other plans.

Andrew’s first glimpse of Jenny was unremarkable. She walked into the office on her first day, and it was not love at first sight. A couple days later, Jenny was assigned to be route trained by Andrew. They bonded over learning the ropes, burgers, and hearing about Andrew’s crush on another coworker. Andrew and Jenny became fast friends.

However, it wasn’t smooth sailing for Jenny. She faced challenges with housemates, and started looking to transferring to Sitka, AK, but she didn’t want to leave her new friend Andrew. Thankfully, Amber, Drew’s sister-in-law, and Jenny started to become friends. She started to invite Jenny to join her, Andrew, and friends for dinners. Jenny and Andrew started to get to know each other a lot better.

July 14th marked a turning point. Jenny persuaded Andrew to join her and their coworkers out to a bonfire at Refuge Cove. Andrew and Jenny spent the evening talking and slowly getting closer. On the bus ride back to their apartments, they sat side by side where finally Andrew held Jenny’s hand. (Aren’t we cute?) A few days later, they had their first official date at Pioneer Café and the rest of the summer was spent being cute and in love.

But as the season came to an end, and so did their circumstances. After Alaska, Andrew returned to Reno, Nevada, while Jenny journeyed back to Oxnard, CA, and then swiftly returned to Davis, CA. They spent the next 3 years doing long distance and crossing the Donner’s pass every other weekend. It was a rough few years but both of them put in the work. In 2020 when the pandemic hit, Jenny lost her job and moved back to Oxnard. After applying to hundreds of jobs, she finally landed a job in Roy, Utah. Since this was a career move and long distance would be even harder with an 8-hour drive instead of 2.5-hours, Andrew started applying to jobs in Utah and joined Jenny a few months later.

Two years later in March 2023, after buying a house and adopting a sweet puppy named Shadow, Jenny and Andrew flew to New York to spend time with family and friends. Little did Jenny know, Andrew had big plans for their vacation. He brought along a little box with a ring. After a week of fun, on March 21,23, Andrew and Jenny finally had some time alone and walked to Central Park. Jenny was so excited to show Andrew all her favorite places. She was completely unaware that Andrew just wanted the perfect opportunity to ask Jenny a very big question.

At Bethesda Fountain, Andrew decided to put his plan in motion. This was perfect for Andrew. While Jenny was distracted, Andrew dug around in her backpack, got down on one knee and asked Jenny “Will you marry me?”. Jenny was so surprised and elated and immediately said “Yes!”.

They could not be more thrilled for this next chapter of their shared life together to begin and are so excited to celebrate their love with family and friends on 9/22/24!
